Lead Guides at Mater Amoris Montessori School guide and help direct students’ activities academically, emotionally, socially, and physically in a prepared Montessori environment that challenges each child to reach his/her fullest potential across developmental areas, in accordance with Montessori philosophy and procedures. The Elementary Guide is responsible for presenting the Montessori curriculum to students, participating in parent education and conferences, record-keeping, and assessment. The Guide is also responsible for maintaining the operation of the classroom in accordance with all County and State guidelines and requirements. Individuals wishing to be on staff at Mater Amoris Montessori School must demonstrate an ability to work as part of a dynamic and diverse team.
Guides should be skilled at supporting the holistic development of children in their care, should be able to adapt lessons and learning experiences to meet the needs of the children, and should participate in ongoing monitoring of student growth and development. Strong communication skills, a commitment to ethical behavior, and a collaborative nature are key to building relationships with children, parents, and co-workers and are required of all members of the Mater Amoris team.
Successful candidates will have an AMI Elementary diploma and, at minimum, a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred). At least three years of classroom experience, preferably in a Montessori environment, is preferred. Preference will be given to individuals who are passionate about incorporating nature-based education as part of the Montessori experience.
