Heartland Montessori School seeks a passionate, qualified guide for our Children's House. We are an authentic Montessori school serving children between the ages of 14 months-6 yrs old. We have one Toddler classroom and one Children’s House. Heartland is a private, non-profit school located in a rural setting in a thriving university town surrounded by rolling hills and farmland in Western Wisconsin. Situated in the beautiful St. Croix River Valley, the community is commuting distance from Minneapolis & St. Paul.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Montessori MACTE approved (AMS, AMI, IMC) Certificate in applicable age group
Bachelor’s Degree
3 years teaching experience
comply with State of Wisconsin Director requirements for Childcare Teacher
Preferred:
Previous experience in the role of Lead Teacher in a Montessori school
Experience working in a state licensed center
Excellent family relationships
Excellent co-worker and employee relationships
Works at a high standard of excellence as a teacher and employee
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Fully implements the Montessori curriculum in accordance with directives and guidelines for implementation.
Utilizes Montessori curriculum planning, including Practical Life, Sensorial, Academic (Language/Literacy and Math), and the Cultural Subjects (Science, Art, Music, Health, Geography, and History) and ensures access and equity.
Acknowledges and encourages diversity and varying viewpoints by providing images and experiences that reflects the local and global communities.
Uses Montessori materials according to lesson plans and varies the instructional materials used including contextual, supplemental, teaching bulletin boards, teacher-constructed, audio-visual, activity-based, hands-on, discovery, puzzles/games and tactile.
Assesses developmental needs of children and works to incorporate individual students’ learning, physical and emotional needs through providing a variety of materials and activities that encourage children to explore their environment and develop social skills, problem-solving skills, and new ways of thinking.
Maintains accurate and timely educational assessments and progress portfolios for all students assigned.
Utilizes Montessori supplemental materials as required by specific classroom or program.
Establishes a classroom community that is peaceful and supportive of child development.
Uses their Montessori training to individualize interactions with children and enable their access of the environment.
Follows a dependable procedure for conflict resolution that is cohesive with Montessori pedagogy.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS
Knowledge and skill in instructional principles, methods, and techniques of Montessori program as adhered to and defined by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI).
Montessori (AMS or MACTE) Early Childhood (Ages 2.5 to 6) certified preferred.
Previous experience teaching in a Montessori setting preferred; or any combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the work.
Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

This is a 12-month, full-time position.
8-hour shift, Monday-Friday
Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
