AMI Montessori Primary teacher training in New Mexico!
- Bringing AMI training to New Mexico – Next Anticipated Primary class dates TBD!
- Optional Philosophy of Indigenous Education program available to all students.
- SIMS AMI Primary trainer, Ann Velasco, will be the lead trainer for this course!
- Convenient daytime classes broken into modules that allow for time to complete observation and practice teaching in New Mexico.
- Classes will be conducted at Montessori One Academy in Albuquerque.
Cost of Training
Please review course costs for students thoroughly before submitting your application:
- Total Tuition for Academic Year: $12,000
- Optional Philosophy of Indigenous Education Course: $3,000
- Application Fee: $150 (must be submitted with your Application)
- Tuition Deposit: $1000 tuition deposit is due upon enrollment.
Scholarship
The Indigenous Montessori Institute has an incredible full-tuition scholarship opportunity available to members of Native American tribes in the United States. Qualified students enrolled in the Montessori training and the Philosophy of Indigenous Education will be considered for this scholarship. Convenient Daytime Block Schedule
Classes will run during the day Monday through Friday, 9am to 4:30pm. During breaks between blocks of courses, students will have the time to complete observation and practice teaching requirements in New Mexico or elsewhere.
Optional Philosophy of Indigenous Education Course
Work with the Keres Children’s Learning Center (KCLC) to transform education. With a goal of making Montessori education accessible to children in New Mexico, particularly children from the Pueblos, this program will focus on Montessori education through the lens of an Indigenous worldview. Sample Course Schedule-
Classes will be offered in a block schedule and run Monday – Friday, 9am-4:30pm:
August 12 – September 4, 2019 – Montessori Block 1 (Practical Life + Theory)
*Students will complete 1 week of observation between blocks 1&2*
October 9 – November 6, 2019 – Montessori Block 2 (Sensorial + Theory)
October 21 – October 25 – Students will complete one week of observation
*Students will complete 1 week of observation between blocks 2&3*
December 2 – December 18, 2019 – Montessori Block 3 (Language)
*Students will complete 2 weeks of practice teaching between blocks 3&4*
February 3 – February 28, 2020 – Montessori Block 4 (Math & Practical Lectures)
*Students will complete 2 weeks of practice teaching between blocks 4&5*
April 14 – April 24, 2020 – Montessori Block 5 (Reviews and Written Exams)
May 11 – May 23 – Montessori Block 6 (Practice and Oral Exams, Graduation)

According to the Montessori Network of New Mexico, there are over 36 Montessori schools in the state, including 3 recognized by AMI.
