Scholarship Opportunities
We encourage eligible accepted applicants in our training program to consider these scholarships, organized both within and externally to SIMS. SIMS applicants must apply for scholarships prior to the start of their program.
Philosophy of Indigenous Education Scholarship
Scholarships for enrolled tribal members are available to Indigenous folks through the Indigenous Montessori Institute. Eligible participants must apply to enroll in both the Philosophy of Indigenous Education and a Montessori training track (Primary and Elementary students only). Black Montessori Education Fund (BMEF)
The Black Montessori Education Fund provides scholarships for eligible teachers who are pursuing or would like to pursue Montessori teacher training with a MACTE-certified training center or AMI or AMS. Selected applicants will receive $2,000, which can be used toward any course-related cost.
Applications open in October 2024. Priority is given to those who are already accepted into a training program.
Margaret E. Stephenson Scholarship
The mission of the MES Scholarship Fund is to provide financial aid for Montessori teacher training, support the vibrant community of Montessori educators who are committed to meeting the universal needs of the child and honor the legacy of Margaret Elizabeth Stephenson, who dedicated her life to training Montessori teachers in the United States.
Administered through the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), scholarship awards range from $500–$5000. This scholarship is open to US citizens/residents who can demonstrate financial need, and have already been accepted in an AMI training course. Applications are accepted January 1st – May 1st each year.
DEADLINE: MAY 1st (Infant/Toddler applicants starting in April are still encouraged to apply)
Early Childhood (0-3) Advancement Scholarship
One merit-based scholarship for $2000 each, designed to support those seeking to advance their current career in early childhood working with children ages 0-3 (for example, if you are working as a nanny, classroom assistant/aide, preschool teacher, or as an early childhood teacher, you should apply).
DEADLINE: FEB 28, 2025 for SIMS A to I courses starting 2025
Early Childhood (3-6) Advancement Scholarship
Two merit-based scholarships for $2000 each, designed to support those seeking to advance their current career in early childhood working with children ages 3-6 (for example, if you are working as a nanny, classroom assistant/aide, or as an early childhood teacher, you should apply).
DEADLINE: MAY 2nd, 2025 for SIMS Primary courses starting in 2025
Elementary Education Advancement Scholarship
One merit-based scholarship for $2500 each, designed to support those seeking to advance their current career in elementary education (for example, if you are working as a public school teacher, classroom assistant/aide, or as a school age tutor or coach, you should apply).
DEADLINE: MAY 2nd, 2025 for SIMS Elementary courses starting in 2025
Visiting Students Scholarship
Three merit-based scholarships for $1500. This scholarship is for out-of-state or international students traveling to Arizona to complete the training at SIMS. Students coming from out-of-state incur additional expenses. This scholarship is designed to help offset some of those costs.
DEADLINE: FEB 28 for Infant/Toddler students, MAY 2nd, 2025 Primary and Elementary students
Montessori Professional Development Scholarship
Administered via the Arizona Community Foundation, awards range from $300–$2500. Eligible applicants should have applied and been accepted into the SIMS training course, and must demonstrate financial need.
DEADLINE: FEB 28 for Infant/Toddler students, MAY 2nd, 2025 Primary and Elementary students
Montessori as a Second Career Scholarship
Two merit-based scholarships for $1500, this scholarship is for students who are making a major career change. Students who have not previously been working in education are encouraged to apply for this scholarship.
